On the website that I scoured, I was able to find every single teachers' personal website that was designed by each of them individually. On the specific site for the William Floyd school district, was a teacher named Ms. Tepper. She teaches earth science and here site clearly reflects this by having an "Intro to Earth Science" youtube video on the home page of her site and has basic information labeled on there for parents' use. She also has an about her page where she details facts about her life so the parents and students can get to know her better.

The link to the website shown above is here

I plan to use an abundance of technology when it comes to my future teaching career because the parents of the children I will be teaching, will be from a younger generation who is more apt in the realm of technology. One specific tool I will use is Google Drive, due to its nature of being easy to share and easy to give out editing permissions for students and teachers alike. Google Drive will let me share my coursework with the parents and students, along with having each student have their own folder in the Google Drive. These individual folders for each student will make grading assignments very easy for me as a teacher because I will be able to see when they put the assignment into their folder, to make sure it was done by the deadline.

PB Works was not my favorite platform to use. I feel as though the interface looks a bit archaic and overall was difficult to understand how to use at first. I also did not like how only one person could work on the same page at the same time. I find that Google Docs is better for group work for that reason. I wouldn't choose to use this wiki platform for my future students but if I had to, I would have them use the wiki as a research paper format in which they would come up with a topic and then design their wiki around that topic.

  1. Hi Jake! I really liked your blog post for this week. I agree with what you said about PB Works. I also did not really like using it because of how outdated it was and the fact that one person could work on a page at a time. I also would not use it with my students because I personally do not feel like it would be useful for them.
