My first experience with Twitter was with my personal account and I found it as a good way to keep updated on global news in the world. For this teacher account for this course, I found it as an interesting way to keep in contact with other students in the class and with the teacher. Twitter will help me connect with other teachers in my career, as a way to professionally connect with others. Twitter can also help me with my future career in the way of helping me connect with my students in a fun and effective way, yet still maintaining a sense of professionalism.

Everyone in this world, more or less, rely on some form of technology. Because of this, schools rely on children to have this technology and unfortunately, not every one of those children have that kind of access. This is what is known as the digital divide, and it is widespread across the nation and the globe. The digital divide is usually caused by poverty or in general, low economic status. If I experience this as a teacher with a student, I would help in any way I can, by offering the student an alternate assignment in secret so they are not bullied for it.

One academic software that I would implement in my classroom is classroom dojo. I would use this software because it is an effective way of both assigning and tracking assignments for the students. I can also award the students with badges if they do things well and on time. Kahoot is also an academic software that I would like to use because I believe that it can effectively monitor how much students know about the subject that I am teaching.

I do not believe badges should be a thing. I think people, and especially future educators should be able to, and willing to, complete objectives or accomplishments without receiving a badge of honor for it. I have never earned a badge before, and will most likely never will intentionally. I believe the idea of going out and helping people, for instance, has become commodified as something that people should only do when there is a camera watching, or if they get something out of it. This is where I believe the idea of badges come from, and for that reason, I choose not to participate in the idea of them.

  1. Badges is something I am not familiar with as well. I have mixed feelings about it. I do think that it could encourage students to do their work and provide themselves with some cushion. However, with that being said, I do see your point and validity on the matter as well.
